Polypump was approached by SARIA known for their involvement in the manufacture quality product for use in human and animal foodstuffs, agriculture, aquaculture, and industrial applications. The pump medium on this project was 35 tonnes/hr of chicken carcasses. The progressive cavity pump installed by the contractor was failing multiple times throughout the year meaning Bi-monthly spare part bills, Costly downtime when the pump fails which added to the overall running cost.
Due to the site's geographical location, we set up an online video chat to go over the current process and gather all the information to resize a pump solution in house at PolyPump. The outcome was to use a much larger pump with an increased number of stages to maintain the output required (35 tonnes/hr), but run the pump at a much slower rpm. By using a larger pump and running it at a fraction of the speed, the wear would be dramatically reduced. To verify the initial cost of a new and larger pump, we presented life-time costs based on the current pump and spare bill against our offering, which showed that based on their current run of failures, the pump would pay for itself within 6 months.
Having checked in with the client post install we found out it was used on the pet food production line.
